Commander (retired) Maurice Ewbank (28 November, 1884 – 5 January, 1932) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and transferred into the Royal Navy in 1913.

Life & Career

Ewbank entered the Royal Naval Reserve in 1904.

Ewbank entered the Royal Navy at the rank of Supplementary Lieutenant on 1 April, 1913. He served in the light cruiser Liverpool until she paid off on 21 July 1915. He was then appointed to the light cruiser Birkenhead on 30 July and served in her until April, 1918, seeing action at the Battle of Jutland as part of the Third Light Cruiser Squadron.[1]

Ewbank was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1921.[2]

Ewbank was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 11 November, 1929.[3]

Ewbank died of respiratory failure at age 47 following an operation in early 1932.[4]
