The Eleventh Sloop Flotilla was a formation of sloops of the Royal Navy.

History

The Eleventh was one of six new flotillas to first appear in the Navy List in July, 1918, joining the long-established First Sloop Flotilla and Tenth Sloop Flotilla.

July, 1918

The flotilla is based at Gibraltar, with fifteen sloops, several of which had been stationed at Gibraltar without apparent formation for a considerable time already. Other forces at Gibraltar at this time include three light cruisers, two destroyers, nine torpedo boats, seven armed boarding steamers and the seaplane carrier Empress. This roster would apply until some time between 1 August and 1 November.[1]

November, 1918

Donovan and Rocksand have joined, increasing strength to seventeen sloops. Hollyhock is paid off.[2]

December, 1918

Hollyhock has left and Berberis has joined, maintaining a strength of seventeen sloops. Narcissus is paid off.[3]

January, 1919

Berberis, Coreopsis, Dianthus, Gilia, Hibiscus, Hydrangea, Lychnis, Marguerite, Rocksand and Tuberose have left, resulting in a strength of seven sloops. Narcissus remains paid off. This roster would apply until some time in February.[4]

Narcissus has left, leaving a strength of six sloops. This roster would apply until some time in March.[5]

The flotilla appears to have been disbanded in March. Chrysanthemum and Donovan would remain at Gibraltar through at least 1 July, but without a flotilla designation.
