Admiral SIR Heathcoat Salusbury Grant, K.C.M.G., C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (13 February, 1864 – 25 September, 1938) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

At the examination for Naval Cadetships, Grant placed thirty-seventh out of the successful batch of forty-six.[1]

Grant was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 21 June, 1887.[2]

On 12 December, 1895, Grant was appointed to the new battleship Majestic.[3]

Grant was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1899.[4]

Captain

He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1904.[5]

Great War

Grant was appointed in command of the battleship Canopus on 1 August, 1914.[6]

On 14 March, 1916, he was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) dated 1 January.[7] He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 4 June vice Fyler.[8] On 19 June, 1917 he was appointed Senior Officer and in Charge of all H.M. Naval Establishments at Gibraltar, assuming command on 5 July.[9]

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 25 March, 1920, vice Kennedy.[10]

Post-War & Retirement

Grant was placed on the Retired List on 26 March, 1920.[11] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 8 May, 1925.[12]
