William Barclay Armit

Commander R.N.R. (retired) William Barclay Armit, R.D. (25 July, 1885 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Born in St. Andrew's, Fife.

Armit was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 2 August, 1915.[1]

After some time in the monitor General Wolfe, Armit was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 34 on 12 September, 1918.[2] He was also temporarily placed in command of Arun.[3]

Armit was demobilised on 4 March, 1919. He would promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 2 August, 1923. He was placed on the Retired List at on 25 July 1930 and promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 14 November, 1933. Armit was removed from the Retired List at his own request on 25 November, 1935.[4]
