World War II

As a retired Admiral, Davies was called up to help manage convoy operations, and was mentioned in dispatches on 20 August, 1943 for his "outstanding devotion to duty during three years arduous services as Commodore of Ocean Convoys." He reverted to the Retired List on 22 May, 1944. His death on 13 December, 1954 was attributed in part to "myocardial degeneration."[12]
