Chief Gunner William Rhodes Jowett, (1 June, 1859 – 24 February, 1919) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Jowett entered the Navy in 27 January, 1875.[1]
Jowett was confirmed at the rank of Gunner with seniority of 2 April, 1894.[2]
Jowett was qualified as an interpreter in Swahili in August, 1897.[3]
On 9 January, 1911, Jowett was appointed to the second class protected cruiser Terpsichore.[4] He remained in this appointment through 13 December, 1911, being confirmed at the rank of Chief Gunner with seniority of 8 November, 1911.[5][6]
He commanded the destroyer Wizard of the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla from March to November 1912 and was pensioned at his own request on 12 June 1913. He died in 1919.[7]
