Arthur Hope Hignett

Commander R.N.R. (retired) Arthur Hope Hignett, R.D. (18 June, 1874 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Hignett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 19 January, 1912.[1]

In 1916, he was cautioned to exercise more care in the navigation of his vessel. He was appointed in command of the destroyer Bat on 6 April, 1916 and was again cautioned in 1917 when she collided with a barge.[2]

Relieved in command of Bat due to poor health, Hignett served as Port Convoy Officer in Devonport from 17 August 1917.[3]

Demobilised on 1 November, 1919, Hignett was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 19 January, 1920.[4]

Hignett was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 19 January, 1922.[5]

Hignett was removed from the Retired List on 29 November, 1954.
