Commander R.N.R. (retired) George Sharon Loraine (22 December, 1881 – 12 January, 1963) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Following an evaluation that noted that he spoke Spanish and was "a good officer of a superior type", Loraine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 November, 1916.[1]

Loraine was appointed in command of the destroyer Surly on 26 January, 1918.[2] An appointment in command of Afridi was cancelled after a single week in March, 1919. He was demobilised on 27 March.[3]

He was placed on the Retired List on 18 August, 1922.[4]

Loraine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 November, 1924.[5]

In 1948, he reported that he was fit for home shore service only, and was employed as a company director.[6]
