Admiral Paul Behncke (13 August, 1866[Citation needed][Fact Check][1] – 4 January, 1937) was an Admiral of the Imperial German Navy during the First World War, who in 1918 became the Secretary of State of the Imperial Naval Office.
Early Life & Career
Behncke was appointed in command of the pre-dreadnoughts Wettin and Westfalen in 1909 and 1910.
Behncke was promoted to the rank of Konteradmiral on 14 July, 1914 and in that capacity commanded the Template:DE=BS, comprised of the most powerful units at the Battle of Jutland.
He was promoted to Vizeadmiral on 25 November, 1916 and Admiral on 20 December, 1920.
