John Pollington Apps
Commander (retired) John Pollington Apps, D.S.C. (9 February, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of B. C. Apps, Esq. transferred into the Royal Navy from the R.N.R. in February, 1918.

On 8 January, 1932 Apps was placed in command of Group "Y" Submarines in Reserve at Portsmouth, which was then three "L" class boats.{{#if:p. 250|<ref>The Navy List. Copy on Ancestry.co.uk.}} On 1 June, 1933, he was placed in command of a different group of submarines in reserve under H.M.S. Pigmy that I have yet to identify.<ref>"Naval Appointments." The Times (London, England), 31 May 1933, p. 4.</ref> This assignment lasted just one month.
Later in 1933 he reverted to General Service, rather than Submarine Service. Apps was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 18 January, 1934 and promoted to the rank of Commander on 9 February, 1937.
