Jump to navigationJump to searchLieutenant-Commander Alan Charles Henderson Duke, R.N. (8 June, 1886 – 11 July, 1917) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Duke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1908.
Duke served in the battleship Queen early in the war. In early 1916 he was appointed to the light cruiser H.M.S. Dublin as first and gunnery officer.
Duke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1916.
Duke was appointed to the battleship H.M.S. Vanguard on 1 January, 1917. He somehow survived when she blew up in Scapa Flow on 9 July, 1917 but died two days later of his injuries.
