H.M.S. Andromeda was one of eight Diadem class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy around the turn of the century.
She was converted to a training ship in 1913 and renamed Powerful II on 23 September.
In November, 1919, she was renamed Impregnable II
On 20 January, 1931, she was renamed Defiance and became part of the torpedo school.
There was a sloop launched in 1917 that took on the name Andromeda.
