Arthur Lumley St. George Lyster
Admiral (retired) SIR Arthur Lumley St. George Lyster, K.C.B., C.B.E., C.V.O., D.S.O., R.N. (27 April, 1888 – 4 August, 1957) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Coleshill, the son of Dr. A. L. Lyster.
Lyster was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1909.
Lyster served as gunnery officer in the battleship Glory from the Test Mobilisation until she paid off on 10 April, 1916.
Lyster was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1917.
Post-War
Lyster was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1921.
Lyster was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1928.
World War II
Lyster was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 August, 1939.
Lyster was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 29 October, 1942.
Lyster was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 27 July, 1945 and was then promoted to the rank of Admiral (retired) on 25 September, 1945.
