H.M.S. Phaeton was one of four second class protected cruisers of the Leander class completed between 1885 and 1887.
There was also a light cruiser named Phaeton that fought in the Great War.
Service
Re-commissioned at Malta on 18 March, 1890.[6]
Phaeton was due to begin refitting at Esquimalt at the end of December 1901, but this was delayed by the disappearance of the sloop Condor during a cruise from Esquimalt to Honolulu. Phaeton was sent out to search for the Condor on 20 January, 1902.[7]
