Vice-Admiral Stuart Sumner Bonham-Carter, C.V.O., D.S.O., C.B., Royal Navy (9 July, 1889 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Bonham-Carter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1911.[1]

Bonham-Carter was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the submarine Shark on 8 June, 1918.[2]

Bonham-Carter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1919.[3]

He was appointed in command of the minesweeper Petersfield on 11 November, 1919.

Bonham-Carter was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1921.[4]

He was appointed as executive officer in Delhi on 7 August, 1922 and remained in her until 6 January, 1925.[5]

Bonham-Carter was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1927.[6]

On 11 January, 1929, Bonham-Carter was appointed in command of the light cruiser Calcutta, to be Flag Captain to Rear Admiral Burmester upon his hoisting his flag in her, which he did in February. Bonham-Carter was superseded in Calcutta on 24 April, 1931.[7]

Bonham-Carter was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 January, 1939.[8]

World War II

Bonham-Carter was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 15 June, 1942.[9]
