Arthur William Waymouth
Admiral Arthur William Waymouth, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (16 or 18 November, 1863 – 14 January, 1936) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Waymouth was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 20 June, 1883.[1]
Waymouth was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1895,[2] at the age of thirty-one years, seven months, and twelve days.
Waymouth was promoted to the rank of Captain on 26 June, 1902.[3] After a short period on Half Pay on 22 September he was appointed a member of the Ordnance Committee. He took command of the cruiser Minerva on 9 June, 1904.
On 11 September, 1906, he was appointed to Pembroke for trials of the new armoured cruiser Warrior, effective 29 November.[4]. His application to count his time in command of Warrior for the trials as service in a ship of war at sea.
He was appointed in command of the battleship Triumph on 12 January, 1912.[5] On 7 March, 1912, he was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral, vice Kingsford.[6]
On 3 September, 1912, Waymouth was appointed Director of Naval Equipment at the Admiralty.[7]
In July, 1914 it was announced that Waymouth would succeed Rear-Admiral Montague E. Browning as Rear-Admiral in the Third Battle Squadron on 1 September.[8]
Great War
Waymouth was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath on 1 January, 1916.[9]
Waymouth was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 July, 1917, vice Bradford.[10] He was placed on the Retired List on 27 September.[11] He was advanced to the tank of Admiral on the Retired list on 7 October, 1920.[12]
