Leonard Pius Vavasour
Captain (retired) SIR Leonard Pius Vavasour, Baronet, R.N. (22 September, 1881 – 14 September, 1961) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Vavasour was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1902.
Vavasour was appointed in command of the destroyer Conflict on 14 January, 1913.[1]
Vavasour served as First and Torpedo Officer in the battleship Swiftsure from December, 1914 to February, 1916, being promoted to the rank of Commander on 13 December, 1915.
He was appointed to Actæon for torpedo duties for 5 months from 10 March 1916.
On 15 November, 1921, Vavasour was appointed to Vernon to command the Haslar Coastal Motorboat Base and its flotilla.[2] His appointment ended on 1 September 1923.
From December 1924 through 20 December 1926, Vavasour was in charge of the Detention Barracks, Portsmouth.
Vavasour was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 22 September, 1927.
