Captain John Alexander Ingles (27 July, 1875 – 20 April, 1934) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Ingles was confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant dated 14 July, 1894.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant dated 31 December, 1896.[2]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1907.[3]

He was appointed in command of the third class protected cruiser Pegasus on 1 December, 1913.[4] He was obliged to strike her colours when the German Template:UK-Konigsberg encountered her as she was repairing a balky engineering plant in Zanzibar harbour.

Ingles was appointed as acting captain of the battleship Albemarle on 1 May, 1919.[5]

He was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Captain at his own request on 28 July, 1921.[6]
