John Harry Kay Clegg
Rear-Admiral John Harry Kay Clegg, O.B.E., R.N. (24 July, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
Life & Career
Clegg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1906.
Clegg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1914. In June of 1914, he was lent to the Royal Canadian Navy for two years, taking command of Template:CA-Niobe.
Clegg came back early, being sent to Portsmouth on 4 May 1915 to await an appointment. On 30 June, he went to Lord Nelson to serve as Flag Lieutenant-Commander on the staff of R/A Christian.
Clegg was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.
Post-War
Clegg was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1925.
Clegg was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 18 July, 1936 and placed on the Retired List the following day in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 9 March, 1914. He was granted permission to reside in South Africa.
