H.M.S. Minerva was commissioned in 1897 as one of nine Eclipse class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In mid-1913, Minerva was acting as flagship of Sixth Destroyer Flotilla, a patrol flotilla.[9]

She re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 January, 1918.[10]

Radio

In 1901 while assigned to the Cruiser Squadron, the ship was noted as having or being slated to receive a "1 to 52" W/T set.[11]
