Cammell Laird was a British shipbuilder, formed by the union of the shipbuilding interests of William Laird & Son with the Sheffield steelmakers Charles Cammell Co. in 1903 .
Laird's began with warship construction in the 1840s and was a leader in large vessels by 1885. Their primary yard was at Birkenhead.[1]
