Admiral Spencer Victor Yorke de Horsey, Royal Navy, Retired (4 June, 1863 – 19 March, 1937) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
De Horsey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1886.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1898.[2]
Captain
De Horsey was specially promoted to the rank of Captain on 21 October, 1900, for services in South Africa.[3]
He was appointed Captain of the heavy cruiser Kent in December 1905.[4]
De Horsey was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 25 November, 1909, vice Bacon.[5] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List, at his own request, dated 21 August, 1911.[6]
De Horsey was granted a temporary commission as a Commander in the Royal Naval Reserve on 14 November, 1914.[7]
He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 9 August, 1915.[8]
He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the retired List on 1 January, 1919.[9]
