Rear-Admiral SIR William Scarlett Jameson, K.B.E. (3 September, 1899 – 14 November, 1966) served in the Royal Navy. He was in the Engineering Branch.

Life & Career

The son of H. B. Jameson, Esq., gentleman served in the battleship Canada from 4 July, 1915 to February, 1918, seeing action at the Battle of Jutland.

Jameson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[1]

After taking instruction in submarines from April, 1924, on 12 August 1924, he was appointed to the submarine K 14.[2]

Jameson transferred to the Engineering Branch in 1925. He qualified as an Acting Interpreter in French, and was appointed in that role in the submarine X1 on 22 June, 1926.[3]

Jameson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1928.[Inference]

Jameson was promoted to the rank of Commander (E) on 31 December, 1931.

Jameson was promoted to the rank of Captain (E) on 30 June, 1942.

Narrowly lost as National Liberal and Conservative candidate in the General election of 1955 in North Norfolk to the Labour Party candidate, Edwin Gooch.
