Captain Beauchamp Arbuthnot Francis, R.N. (Retired) (24 May, 1886 – 2 September, 1961) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

His father had been a captain in the British Army.

Francis was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1908.

Francis was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 39 June, 1916.

Post-War

Francis was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 31 May, 1927.

World War II

Francis served throughout the War in South Africa. He was dispersed with effect from 1 December1945, and was released from the fleet on 5 February 1946, in "Class A Abroad," holding the acting rank of Captain, but granted the War Service rank of Captain. He reverted to the Retired List on 6 February 1946.[1]

Death

Francis died at Osborne House, Isle of Wight, on 2 September 1961.[2]
