Captain (retired) Claud Herbert Godwin, D.S.O. (3 December, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Alsager, Cheshire, the son of Reverend H. Godwin.[1]

Godwin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 28 February, 1909.[2]

Godwin survived the loss of the battleship H.M.S. Majestic on 27 May, 1915.[3]

Godwin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 28 February, 1917.[4]

Godwin was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1921.[5]

Godwin was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 26 December, 1933.[6]

World War II

In 1937 he was selected for a war appointment. He was mobilised on 28 September, 1938.[7]
