Captain Markham Henry Evelegh (4 June, 1897 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

In 1917 he was awarded the Royal Humane Society Silver Medal for saving life at sea.

Evelegh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1918.

Evelegh was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1926.

Evelegh was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1932.

Evelegh was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 DEcember, 1939.

Evelegh was appointed in command of the battleship Warspite in December, 1944.

Evelegh was appointed in command of the battleship Duke of York vice Nicholl on 31 July 1946.
