Lieutenant-Commander Granville Murray-Browne, R.N. (5 May, 1885 – 31 May, 1916) served in the Royal Navy and died in the battlecruiser Indefatigable at the Battle of Jutland.
Life & Career
Born in Usley, Gloucester, the son of Reverend C. C. Murray-Browne.
Murray-Browne was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1907. Following a pair of command appointments in torpedo boats, he was appointed to Achilles in the Second Cruiser Squadron on 6 June, 1910. This would last just over two years as he applied unsuccessfully to be returned to torpedo boat command. Ultimately, Murray-Brown was appointed to Indefatigable on 17 June, 1913. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 December, 1915 while still with the battlecruiser, he would ultimately die in her when she was destroyed at the Battle of Jutland.
