Rear-Admiral Eric Gascoigne Robinson, O.B.E., V.C., Royal Navy (16 May, 1882 – 20 August, 1965) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Robinson was born in Greenwich, the son of John L. Robinson, a chaplain in the Royal Navy.[1]
Robinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1903.[2]
Robinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1911.[3]
Robinson married Edith Gladys on 8 July, 1913.[4]
Robinson was specially promoted to the rank of Commander on 20 April, 1915 in recognition of distinguished service on the night of 18 April when he commanded a force in boats armed with 14-in torpedoes which torpedoed the stranded submarine E 15, thereby preventing her capture in a serviceable condition.[5]
Robinson was appointed to Iron Duke on 22 July, 1919, serving as Fleet Torpedo Officer.[6]
Robinson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1920.[7]
Robinson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 3 January, 1933 and placed on the Retired List the next day in accordance with Order in Council of 9 March, 1914.[8]
