Alick Stokes

Captain (retired) Alick Stokes (24 November, 1881 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1902.

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1910.

Stokes was appointed to Temeraire as gunnery officer on 8 January, 1913 and remained in her through most of the war.

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915. Temeraire fired 54 12-in shells under his oversight at the Battle of Jutland.

He left Temeraire on 17 November, 1917 for a desk job. His next seaborne appointment was in Emperor of India on 8 January, 1919. He was her gunnery officer until receiving the first of two ships commands he'd receive, that of Terror being appointed on 14 February, 1921.

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Captain on the day he retired, 24 November, 1927.
