U.S.S. Ajax was a collier purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1898.

Construction

Launched at Glasgow by D. & W. Henderson on 13 June, 1890 and named Scindia.[1]

Service

Commissioned under the name Scindia on 21 May, 1898.[2]

Renamed Ajax on 1 January, 1900.
