On 16 January, 1917 he was appointed for service with Defensively Armed Merchant Ships.  He continued in this role through the end of the war, receiving positive evaluations throughout and being promoted to the rank of {{LCommRNR}} on 18 October, 1917.  He was demobilised and placed on the Retired List at the rank of {{CommRNR}} on 20 April, 1919.<ref>Miller Service Record.  {{TNA|ADM 240/54/29.}} f. 29.</ref>

Commander R.N.R. (retired) Ernest Combe Miller, (5 May, 1872 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Miller was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 18 October, 1909.[1]

On 16 January, 1917 he was appointed for service with Defensively Armed Merchant Ships. He continued in this role through the end of the war, receiving positive evaluations throughout and being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 18 October, 1917. He was demobilised and placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 20 April, 1919.[2]
