Acting Commander R.N.R. Richard Loftus Fortier, R.D., D.S.O., R.N.R. (26 December, 1882 – 7 March, 1921) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Fortier was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 25 February, 1908.[1]
Fortier was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 25 February, 1916.[2]
On 10 July 1918 he was appointed in command of the paddle minesweeper Devonia, and in command of such vessels in the Tyne area.[3]
Fortier was granted the acting rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1918.[4]
Fortier was demobilised on 27 January, 1920 and retired as unfit on 7 August, 1920.[5]
He died at Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia on 7 March, 1921.
