U.S.S. St. Louis was one of two St. Louis Class armed merchant cruisers chartered by the U.S. Navy during the Spanish-American War.

Service

Launched as S.S. St. Louis in 1894, she was commissioned as U.S.S. St. Louis in 1898. Engaged first in cutting submarine cables, she was at the Battle of Santiago de Cuba on 3 July.

She was again commissioned during the Great War as U.S.S. Louisville, serving from 1918 to 1919.
