Lieutenant-Commander Conway Benning Allen, (25 September, 1896 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Allen served in armoured cruiser Hampshire from 15 May 1914 until 11 March, 1915, then Warspite through the Battle of Jutland until 28 June, 1917. On 9 July, he proceeded to Dolphin for instruction in submarines.
In September 1917 he was appointed to Vulcan for submarines, being specifically assigned E 48 on 14 November. In February 1918, he was sent to Dolphin to serve in her flotilla's boats.
Allen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1918. On 25 April, he went to Alecto's boats.
He served in H 42 from 12 August 1919 until 1 December 1920, when he was appointed to K 12 as first officer, remaining there for two years.
Allen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1926.
