Captain (retired) Edward Penry Thomas, O.B.E., R.N. (9 May, 1890 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 August, 1912.[1]

Thomas designed a mechanism for training the 36-in Searchlight. Thomas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 August, 1920.[2]

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1926.[3]

Thomas was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 5 September, 1936.[4]

World War II

Thomas served with the Royal Australian Navy from August 1939. His time there proved extensive, his appointment terminating only on 13 April, 1948. He immediately reverted to the Retired List of the Royal Navy.[5]
