H.M.S. Dasher was one of forty-two "A" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "27 knotter".
She was broken up before the war.
Service
Dasher was commissioned at Portsmouth to take part in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1895, but on the morning of 25 July as she emerged from a dock after having a propeller defect fixed, she collided with the dredger St. Michael while proceeding to Spithead. Her bows stove in, she was returned to dock, and had to be replaced in the Manoeuvres by H.M.S. Contest.[7]
Dasher was one of seventeen destroyers of the Reserve Division which left Sheerness on 1 July, 1905 for Spithead under the overall command of Commander R. G. Gregory in H.M.S. Spitfire.[8]
She and sixteen other destroyers of the Reserve Division arrived at Sheerness on 13 July 1905 and proceeded to Chatham.[9]
