On 7 July, 1919, she and L 12 were placed in submarine reserve group "D" at Portsmouth, under the collective command of Lieutenant Benjamin C. A. Tweedy and tender to Dolphin.[6] By the end of 1920, Lieutenant Theodore F. A. Voysey was in charge.[7]

In mid-1927 she was still in Group "D", which was now under the command of Arthur Salusbury Lindsell.[9]
She paid off into Dockyard Control on 12 March, 1928, soon to begin work as a target submarine.[10]
By early 1933, she was one of three "L" class boats comprising Group "Y" Submarines in Reserve at Portsmouth under the collective command of Lieutenant-Commander John Pollington Apps.[11]
