Commander Duncan West Roe, R.N. (22 July, 1880 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Brighton, the son of Colonel R. E. Roe..
Roe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1902.
Roe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1910.
Roe was appointed in command of the destroyer Avon on 17 April, 1914.[1]
Roe was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915.
Roe was temporarily appointed in command of the sweeping sloop H.M.S. Primrose from 21 March, 1916 to mid-January, 1917. While his service record does not specifically say so, this probably made him Senior Naval Officer in the Template:UK-Sloof during this period.
On 13 February, 1919, he was appointed in command of the depot ship Tyne.[2] During this appointment, the Admiralty opined that he had been improperly "criticising & raising difficulties respecting the orders given to him by his senior officer."
Retired 15 November, 1922.
