Captain (retired) Kenneth Bowring Toms, R.N. (12 March, 1883 – 29 June, 1937) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Molesey, the son of "Sick Manufacturer" F. M. Toms.
Toms was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1904.
Toms was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1912.
Toms was appointed to the light cruiser Aurora on 4 August, 1914. He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916 and remained in the cruiser until being appointed to Birmingham on 4 February, 1917. On 31 October, 1917, he was appointed to work with the [illeg] Hydrophone Flotilla.
On 10 July, 1918 he was appointed to Implacable for command of the Hydrophone Flotilla. As a final wrinkle, Toms was appointed in command of the battleship Implacable on 19 August, 1918.[1] He left her when he was placed on the Retired List at his own request in March, 1919, the effective date being 22 July, 1919.
Toms was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 12 March, 1928.
