Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Richard Charles Steele, R.N. (30 January, 1852 – 7 August, 1937) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Steele was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 10 August, 1880.
Steele was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 April, 1900.
Steele was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 26 December, 1903.
Steele was placed on the Retired List as unfit on 5 April, 1906 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 26 December, 1911.
Steele was called upon to attend to torpedo duty with drifters attached to the torpedo training school H.M.S. Actæon on 23 August, 1915, but on 23 October he was admitted to Haslar Hospital for neurasthenia. He was reverted to the Retired List on 3 November, 1915.
