Captain (retired) Alick Stokes (24 November, 1881 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1902.[1]

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1910.[2]

Stokes was appointed to Temeraire as gunnery officer on 8 January, 1913 and remained in her through most of the war.[3]

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915.[4] Temeraire fired 54 12-in shells under his oversight at the Battle of Jutland.

He left Temeraire on 17 November, 1917 for a desk job. His next seaborne appointment was in Emperor of India on 8 January, 1919. He was her gunnery officer until receiving the first of two ships commands he'd receive, that of Terror being appointed on 14 February, 1921.[5]

Stokes was promoted to the rank of Captain on the day he retired, 24 November, 1927.[6]
