Two Wacht class avisos were completed for the Imperial German Navy in 1888-1889.

Design & Construction

Performance

The Wachts were poor seaboats that were very wet and pitched and rolled severely, as well as requiring lee helm. Despite this they could sail into a head sea with only slight loss of speed.[1]

Armament

[2][3]

As Completed

  • Three 105mm/35 caliber guns
  • Three 350mm torpedo tubes, eight torpedoes

1891

  • Four 88mm/30 caliber quick-firing guns
  • Three 350mm torpedo tubes, eight torpedoes
