Thomas I. Madge (1841 – 25 June, 1902) was an officer of the New York Naval Militia. He was called for temporary service in the United States Navy during the Spanish-American War.
Life & Career
Thomas Madge was born in Louisiana in 1841. As a member of the New York Naval Militia he was appointed Lieutenant for temporary service on 11 May, 1898. Madge reported for duty aboard the collier Scindia on 16 May, but was quickly transferred to the collier Vulcan on 21 May, joining her the next day.[1]
Madge was placed in command of the elderly monitor Wyandotte at Boston on 22 June.[2] Wyandotte was decommissioned on 20 September[3] and Madge was honorably discharged from the Navy two days later.[4]
Madge died on 25 June, 1902 in Staten Island, New York.[5]
