H.M. T.B. 57 (1886) | |
---|---|
Builder: | John I. Thornycroft & Company[1] |
Ordered: | 30 April/1 May, 1885[2] |
Launched: | 1 October, 1886[3] |
Sold: | 2 October, 1919[4] |
H.M. T.B. 57 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 057.[5]
Service
In 1895, she was one of thirteen torpedo boats of 125 feet or greater length and four smaller ones stationed in Devonport.[6]
In 1916, she collided with T.B. 034, resulting in a caution being issued to the captains of both vessels.[7][8]
She was sold to Maden & McKee on 2 October, 1919.[9]
