Commander (retired) Edwin Bidder Clark, O.B.E., R.N. (14 January, 1899 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Clark served from outbreak of war to April, 1917 in Prince of Wales. In November 1917, he applied to serve in submarines, but he continued to serve in the destroyer Tigress through 8 December, 1918.[1]
Clark was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1919 and he studied at Cambridge University through August, 1919. This was followed by studies in Engineering. He finally was selected for submarine instruction in August, 1920.[2]
Clark was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1927. He was appointed in command of Group "E" submarines in reserve in 1927, with a brief stint in command of H 47 interspersed within.[3]
Placed on the Retired List at his own request on 2 March, 1932, Clark was promoted to the rank of Commander on 14 January, 1939.[4]
