Captain Lockhart Leith, C.M.G., D.S.O., R.N. (2 June, 1876 – 30 November, 1940) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in London.
Leith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1898.
Leith was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1910.[1]
Quite unusually, his service record notes that he was engaged in a "secret operation" on 28 November 1916, for which appreciation was expressed.[2] He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1916.[3]
Leith was appointed in command of the light cruiser Cambrian from 19 December, 1918 through 20 March, 1919.
Leith was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 15 June, 1922.
There is no clear indication that he was asked to serve in World War II, and he passed away at the end of 1940.
