In August 1939, Commander Monsell rejoined the Royal Navy and was appointed to {{UK-Pembroke|f=t}} for "NCS Duties Thames".  On 4 November, 1940 he was appointed as N.C.S.O. Londonderry.  On 18 May, 1943 he was appointed to the ''Pembroke'' again as additional for "N.T.J.", beginning these duties on 1 June, 1943.  A further appointment to the ''Mentor'' for duties as R.N.O. Edmond Alain Tremeur de Poher de la Poer (30 April, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

De la Poer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1905.[1]

De la Poer was appointed in command of the destroyer Lightning on 8 March, 1910.[2]

De la Poer was appointed in command of the destroyer Ouse on 17 April, 1912.[3]

De la Poer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1913.[4]

De la Poer was appointed to the battleship Monarch on 19 January, 1914.[5]

De la Poer was appointed additional to the President on 31 December, 1917 "for S.C.S." and for command of the Chrysanthemum on commissioning.[6]

De la Poer was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 May, 1924 with the rank of Commander.[7]

In 1936, he changed his name by Deed Poll to Edmund Alain Tremeur de Poher Monsell.[8]

In August 1939, Commander Monsell rejoined the Royal Navy and was appointed to flagship at Chatham Pembroke for "NCS Duties Thames". On 4 November, 1940 he was appointed as N.C.S.O. Londonderry. On 18 May, 1943 he was appointed to the Pembroke again as additional for "N.T.J.", beginning these duties on 1 June, 1943. A further appointment to the Mentor for duties as R.N.O. Stornoway was cancelled on 24 July. Monsell returned to the Retired List on 1 September, 1943, having been discharged on 24 August.[9]
