Armstrong, Whitworth & Company, Ltd. was a British shipbuilder.
The firm started in 1847 but did not commence building ships until around 1882. The firm acquired Joseph Whitworth's operation in 1897. Shipyards at Elswick and Walker on the Tyne, ammunition works at Scotswood on the Tyne. Erith Engineering Works and ordnance works at Pozzuoli, Italy.[1]
