Admiral SIR Brian Herbert Fairburn Barttelot, K.B.E., C.B., C.V.O., Royal Navy, Retired (13 December, 1867 – 4 February, 1942) was an officer of the Royal Navy in the First World War.

Life & Career

Barttelot was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 April, 1889.[1]

Barttelot was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1901.[2]

Barttelot was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1906.[3]

He was made Captain of the armoured cruiser Monmouth in April 1912.[4]

He was Captain-Superintendent of Contract-Built Ships in the Clyde District from 1914 to 1917.

Barttelot was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, of the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1917.[5]

He took command of the battleship Resolution on 1 November, 1917.[6]

He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 26 August, 1918, vice Henderson.[7]

Barttelot was appointed Admiral-Superintendent of Malta Dockyard on 1 November, 1918.[8]

On 1 November, 1923 he was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral, vice Oliver, and placed on the Retired List the following day.[9] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 August, 1927.[10]
