H.M.A.S. Brisbane was built in Britain, but operated exclusively with the Royal Australian Navy, never with the Royal Navy. Hence, she always bore the "H.M.A.S." prefix.
Alterations
Brisbane was apparently not fitted with a director until well after her sisters, perhaps owing to her service in the Pacific.[2] A photo taken of her in 1935 shows that she did acquire a light aloft tower, high on her foremast at some point.[3]
Captains
Dates of appointment are provided when known.
- Captain Claude Lionel Cumberlege, 31 October, 1916.[4]
